Illegal dumping caught on camera by conscientious resident
Donna, a conscientious resident, expressed disappointment about a police response to her Thursday call about seeing this alleged illegal dumper.
“It is truly disturbing to see all this trash in my beloved city of Trenton,” Donna wrote.
“Last night I called the police, as I caught someone in our alley dumping trash (Poland Alley off Chambers by Greenwood). I took pictures, and got the license number. The police really didn’t seem to care, and when I called the other phone number that dispatch gave me to talk to an officer, he was very short and rude... He said ‘hey lady, what do you expect me to do, I’m sitting behind a desk? If you have pictures, show them to the officer on scene.’ I never saw an officer on scene. Now I have to call the mayor’s office, maybe that will help.”
Sure enough. Donna sent The Trentonian photos of the truck and the license plate. Maybe the police will not be able to prove the driver dumped the garbage bags but the license plate should be able to track the vehicle.
Donna promised to keep fighting to clean up Trenton despite the fact that some neighbors “get out of their cars and just drop trash in the street.”
Trash remains a major issue throughout the City of Trenton, particularly in an area known as Chambersburg in the city’s east ward.
“If we can’t keep the city clean then there’s little hope for success in other areas,” Donna added.
