Bronc women’s basketball team falls at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, MD. » The Rider women’s basketball stumbled in a 63-44 loss to Navy on Sunday afternoon.

The Broncs (0-2) shot 27.9 percent and were just 3-for-14 from beyond the arc.

Kamila Hoskova paced Rider with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Sophie Gatzounas scored a gamehigh 20 points and Taylor Dunham added 13 for the Midshipmen (2-0).

Men’s Basketball

RUTGERS 71, CCSU 67 PISCATAWAY » Mike Williams had 23 points and four steals and Eugene Omoruyi had 13 points, seven rebounds and two blocks as muchneeded sparks off the bench to lead Rutgers past Central Connecticu­t State.

After taking a 2-0 lead, Rutgers trailed most of the first half before Williams’ pair of free throws gave the Scarlet Knights (2-0) a 28-26 lead with 2:04 left in the first half before taking a 30-29 halftime lead.

EWING » Christine Levering (Robbinsvil­le) was on target for her team high 15th goal and the Lions (20-0) dominated the Marlins (15-7-1) to reach the NCAA Division III quarterfin­als.

Jessica Goldman and Elizabeth Thoresen also scored for TCNJ.

Field Hockey

NORTH CAROLINA 3, PRINCETON 2 CHARLOTTES­VILLE, VA. » Megan DuVernois’ goal in the 53rd minute lifted the Tar Heels (18-4) past the Tigers (12-7) in the NCAA Tournament.

MaryKate Neff and Maddie Bacskai scored for Princeton, which cam up short in its attempt to reach the Final Four for a second straight season.

TCNJ 2, CENTRE COLLEGE 0 EWING » First-half goals by Cayla Andrews and Tori Tiefenthal­er were all the Lions (17-3) needed to book another trip to the NCAA Division III Final Four.

Christina Fabiano made four saves in goal to get the shutout.
