Dallas “Mike” Sanford, 88, of Yardley, PA passed away on November 14, 2017 after a long battle with dementia.

Born in Trenton N.J. he entered the US Navy at the age of 16. He served during WWII and the Korean War. His most memorable ship assignment­s were the USS Tidewater, USS Vesole and his favorite, the USS Davison. This was a way for a poor kid fromTrento­n to see the world. Following his honorable discharge, his love of the sea led him to join the merchant marines.

He was a renaissanc­e man before that term was widely used. He worked as a stable boy on racetracks, was a boxer while in the Navy, he loved riding motorcycle­s, he had his pilot’s license and for a time he owned a silver mine in New Mexico. Mike retired from PSE&G gas division in 1990 and spent much of his retirement in Hudson, Florida. Mike had a love/ hate relationsh­ip with the game of golf. He loved to paint and draw, cruise vacations and a well-made manhattan. His was truly a life well lived.

Predecease­d by his parents Paul Dallas Sanford and Helen Sanford Fisher, his sister Iva Sanford Skillman and his wife of 42 years Claire Eastburn Sanford. He is survived by his only daughter Karen Sanford Brisson, her husband Charles Brisson and his pride and joy twin granddaugh­ters Collette and Courtney Brisson and grandson Kyle Brisson. He also has a niece and nephew in Maryland.
