Bullets riddle homes, car in drive-by shooting
HAMILTON » Someone shot up homes and a vehicle during a drive-by shooting overnight in the township, cops said.
Investigators are looking for a white sedan, possibly a Toyota, witnesses described leaving the first block of Victor Avenue after the Wednesday night shooting, which happened around 7:35 p.m., police spokesman Lt. Michael Kelvy said in a news release.
No information was provided to police by witnesses about the shooter or shooters, cops said, as the investigation continues.
Officers found six spent shell casings from a .40-caliber gun when they arrived at the Bromley neighborhood, cops said. Two of the bullets struck one house while another hit a second
home. A parked car that had no one in it was also hit in the hail of gunfire, cops said.
Investigators don’t know at this point whether the homes and vehicle were intentionally targeted or the motive behind the drive-by shooting. No one was injured by the gunfire, cops said.
This isn’t the first time Hamilton’s Bromley neighborhood has been targeted in recent years.
In August 2016, residents called for more police patrols in the neighborhood after a separate Victor Avenue shooting left bullet holes in homes and vehicles.
Great grandmother Joan Horn, whose home was struck, and other residents told The Trentonian at the time they heard at least 17 gunshots.
“I was never so scared in my life as I was last night,” Horn, said in 2016, as she sat in front of her home. “I’ve grown up here. I was raised here. I’ve been here 70 years. I like the neighborhood. It’s changed over the years. It’s gotten worse. It used to be good. No area is good anymore.”
Police are asking the public to contact Hamilton Police Detective Joseph Ialacci at 609-689-5822 with any information about Wednesday night’s shooting.
