Daily access to national news allows insights to what people are doing in the nooks and crannies of society.

Frequently, it’s the nuts and bolts kind of drudgery that accompanies life but some times news puts us on our heels and demands alphabetical text messages that inquire ‘WTF’ or ‘SMH’.

Personally, a moment existed when reading this story caused a “LMAO,” mainly because no other emotion existed to deal with this outrageous news.

Dateline Newfoundland, Pa. where hundreds of worshipers showed up for church holding AR-15 rifles and pistols to have their weddings blessed and weapons recognized as life-saving “rods of iron” created by God for people to defend family members and community.

Newfoundland is pressed into the Poconos Mountains just west of Wilkes-Barre and approximately 125 miles north of Philadelphia.

Couples packed the World Peace and Unification Sanctuary Church on Wednesday as Pastor Hyung Jin Moon recognized the sanctity of the joined couples, plus, celebrated their rifles and firearms as sanctified tools for fighting evil. Moon is the son of the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

Loaded weapons were not allowed for the service and attendants checked each weapon at the door to assure that they were secured with a zip tie. Still, safety efforts could not deter criticisms, especially as some attendees accessorized their outfits with crowns made of bullets.

Imagine the wives asking that infamous question. No, not “Do you think my butt looks big in this gown?” The other question whether the color of her AR-15 rifle clashed with her white attire.

No criticisms here regarding deplorable people just an acknowledgment that these worshipers exist on the outer fringe of humankind.

Oh, God, yea, though I walk through valleys and shadows of these Poconos Mountains, deliver those words offered by Samuel L. Jackson in Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction”, that I may educate my brothers and sisters about thy rods of iron and thunder provided as defenders of thy will.

Samuel L. Jackson, please? “The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

Now, shoot and kill a whole lot of people and stand justified by your actions.

Just wondering how much more God will allow mankind to pimp out his name. We steal, start wars, kill and commit every sin under heaven, frequently espousing that our behavior serve as acts ordained by a higher power.

God Bless America and our guns.
