TEA hurts education

-

Does anyone really believe that Naomi Johnson LaFleur and her leadership at Trenton Education Association have the best interest of students at heart? If they did they would all step down because it appears that the most influential force in opposition to moving our education forward is Miss Johnson and her fellow leaders. — A reader

I know they want to get raises for all of the teachers, but they also want better things for the kids. The theory, and I agree with it, is that if you pay teachers well, they will stay. If you have teachers that stay longer, you have more invested in the kids. Also, if you can pay better, you can attract better teachers. Sadly, the money just isn’t there. — Ed Note

I’m calling about a couple of your responses in the paper. Why is it that it’s okay, and you could find the money to give a few million dollars to illegal immigrants, but when it comes to protecting our children you can’t find the money, and you’re asking where the money’s going to come from? That’s just typical liberal. — A reader

Well, for one thing, I’m often just explaining someone else’s points to clarify when people have comments about issues. It doesn’t always mean I believe that. Like the fact that there’s not enough money to protect our kids? I don’t WANT that to be true, but that’s reality. Schools are cutting budgets for math programs. F ***** g math. Do you think they’ll have 150k per year to spend on guards? I wish that wasn’t the case, but it is.
