Mercer County Community College to present free concerts
WEST WINDSOR » A musical celebration of spring is in store at Mercer County Community College, with a series of three free concerts by the MCCC chamber ensemble, chorus and jazz band.
The MCCC Chamber Ensemble will perform Monday, April 30, with the MCCC Chorus performing on Tuesday, May 1, followed by the Jazz Band on Wednesday, May 2. All three performances are at 7:30 p.m. in Kelsey Theatre on Mercer’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
Under the direction of Alicia “Lish” Lindsey, the MCCC Chamber Ensemble will present a varied program highlighting the works of popular composers, as well as several original student compositions. The following night the MCCC Chorus, directed by Timothy Smith, presents “A World Tapestry,” with works celebrating the coming of spring by composers Gabriel Faure, Henry Purcell, and Igor Stravinsky, among many others.
Wednesday’s performance by the MCCC Jazz Band, directed by Music Department Coordinator Scott Hornick, features works by Hoagy Carmichael, Rodgers and Hart, George and Ira Gershwin, Rudolph Tombs, and more.
All three concerts are free and open to the public. Kelsey Theatre is wheelchair accessible and free parking is available next to the theater. For more information, contact the Music Department at (609) 570-3735.
