Utility repair plan failed needs of local residents
Quality of life issues matter a lot.
Parking remains a huge issue in Chambersburg while potholes produce headaches for residents throughout the city.
Barking dogs, early-morning car horn blowers receive derisive responses. Almost 7 billion cell phones in the world, and what, these jerks are the only ones without a great mass communication device?
Public Service Energy & Gas created unnecessary problems last week with mismanagement of a project in the 700 block of Chambers St.
PSE&G workers closed Chambers St. at Forrest Ave. Cars detoured right onto Forrest. Then left onto Franklin St. then were able to reconnect with Chambers St. via of Mifflin or Roebling Ave.
Work started at 8 a.m. which caused major headaches for rush hour commuters and pedestrians. Plus, Franklin St. residents witnessed an entire day of traffic.
PSE&G employees finished around 5:30 p.m. which meant afternoon rush hour travelers were affected again.
Why impact both rush hours? Could have started at 9 a.m. and worked until 6:30.
“I could not believe all the traffic,” Armida Gates, a Franklin St. resident complained.
We both thought PSE&G could have given more consideration for residents. Perhaps, even a sign requesting slower speeds would have helped the situation.
Almost a month out, PSE&G sent a truck to repair wires pulled down by a truck on Franklin St.
The PSE&G employee drive his vehicle onto the sidewalk. He broke two boards that were part of a wooden construction that framed a small flower bed.
The PSE&G employee drove off after discovering the downed lines were television cable wires.
Cost of the two boards? About $2.50. The fact that a reputable company hires people who destroy property and drive off causes anger.
Reputation in business, life, employment, etc. matters.
