Frank Anthony Vitellaro of Pennington
Frank Anthony Vitellaro, 94, of Pennington, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 13, 2018 at home.
Born in Trenton, he was a long time Pennington resident.
Frank was a Navy Veteran serving during World War II.
He was a talented engineer who could build everything from go carts, boats, planes to homes without any formal schooling. He held many patents.
Frank discovered aviation and was a pilot from youth; he owned many types of planes over his lifetime. He particularly loved and was sought after for his expertise in restoring historic planes at Pemberton Airport. In his later years, he started model aircraft building. He owned many classic corvettes through the years and enjoyed attending classic car shows.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vincenzo Vitellaro and Giovanna (Rossano) Vitellaro who emigrated from Casteltermini, Italy; his beloved wife of 58 years, Ann E. Mellodge Vitellaro; and sisters, Mary Giambroni, Margaret Mystrena and Grace Cesaro.
Frank is survived by his children, Frank V. Vitellaro and his wife Kristen Jacobus of Pennington, and Deborah A. and her husband, Gerald C. Schreck of Madison. Frank loved time spent with his two granddaughters, Samantha Leigh Vitellaro and Sydney Gianna Schreck, and he has many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to Frank’s family on Monday, May 21 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Gruerio Funeral Home, 311 Chestnut Avenue, Trenton. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. from the Gruerio Funeral Home to A Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Parish at St. Joachim Church, 2056 Butler Street, Trenton. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey Street, Hamilton.
