James Edward Fitzgerald, peacefully departed this life on May

15, 2018 at Morris Hall/St. Joseph’s Nursing Center of Lawrencevi­lle, NJ.

Born in Chatham, Virginia (Pittsylvan­ia County) on September 29, 1939, James was the oldest of nine children born to the late Clarence and Callie Fitzgerald. He was educated in the Blairs Virginia School System. Upon graduation he served in the US Army. While continuing his service in the National Guards he went to work for the Ford Motor Company in Metuchen, New Jersey. He became Superinten­dent of the Material Handling Department, retiring after 41 years of service.

He leaves behind his wife, Marguerite of Ewing, NJ, his siblings: William Fitzgerald, Della Hageman (Rodney) of Ewing, NJ, Loretta Wallace (Ulysses Sr.) of Trenton, NJ, Ricky Fitzgerald of Trenton, NJ. His in-laws, Annie Bell Martin, of Ewing, NJ, Isaac Ballard, Jr. (Susan) of Princeton, NJ, Abdul Bakr (Roxanne), Barbara Grayson, Mumtaz Bakr all of Ewing, NJ, Allen Ballard (Sylvia), Ronald Ballard, of Trenton, NJ and Janet Ballard, of Florida, eight Godchildre­n, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be at noon, Friday May 25th, 2018 at St. John’s Baptist Church, 70 Oregon Ave., Ewing, N.J. Calling hours will be from 10 am until time of service at the church. Interment will be at Ewing Cemetery. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of the Hughes Funeral Home.
