When: Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., CFE Arena, Orlando, Fla.

TV/ Radio: ESPN3/ 107.7 FM The Bronc

Last Time Out: Rider def. West Chester, 87-81 in an exhibition; UCF def. Flagler, 86-69 in an exhibition Series History: UCF leads, 1-0

Coaches: Rider — Kevin Baggett (7th season, 10789); UCF — Johnny Dawkins (3rd season, 43-25) Background: The Broncs and Golden Knights are meeting for the first time since a 73-66 win by UCF in 1986. Thanks to a scheduling quirk, Rider won’t be back in action until Nov. 19 for its home opener against Coppin State. Offense vs. Defense: UCF is one of two schools to be ranked in the top six nationally in scoring defense each of the last two seasons along with Virginia. Since Dawkins took over, the Knights are holding opponents to 38.1 percent from the field. They only allowed 62.7 points per game, which was third in the country. Rider wants to push the pace by getting in transition and shooting early and often. The Broncs averaged 81.9 points last season, which was good for 26th nationally. Better Bench: Baggett wasn’t happy with his bench’s production in the exhibition victory. The trio of Ahmad Gilbert, Frederick Scott and Kimar Williams registered 10 points on 3-for-15 shooting. That group is far too talented for those kinds of nights. Baggett admitted he’s still figuring out substitution patterns and who gets what minutes with each other. Stars Need to Shine: To win on the road against an opponent receiving top 25 votes, Rider needs big nights from Stevie Jordan and Dimencio Vaughn. Both were preseason first team All-MAAC selections and have to play like it. This a huge opportunity for the Broncs on night one.
