Attempted Murder: Julian Stovell, 26 was arrested by the Shooting Response Team and U.S. Marshals on Chestnut Avenue, charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. Stovall was locked up for something that happened in October. Police couldn’t immediately offer any other details on the arrest.
Robbery: Tyreeq Green was locked up earlier this week and hit with charges for robbery, aggravated assault and possession of weapon for an unlawful purposes. He was also arrested by the U.S. Marshals. He had a handful of warrants out for his arrest at the time he was nabbed by the authorities. Police didn’t have further details about the arrest.
Drug Pop: Angel Rodriguez, 26, was arrested on Centre Street after cops found him with heroin. Violent crime detectives patrolling South Trenton saw Rodriguez do a drug deal with someone else. Detectives saw him exchange money and stopped Rodriguez. He was found with drugs and cash and taken to police headquarters. He had three decks of heroin and more than $300 in cash that was seized as suspected illicit drug proceeds. More Drugs: Armetrius Williams,
31 and Ortiz Nieves, 20, were nabbed by violent crime detectives who saw them do a drug deal. They separated and walked away when they saw the boys in blue coming for them. Williams was hit with distribution charges while Nieves was hit with pot charges. Cops seized 5 gram of marijuana and $2,421 in cash. Oxy Bust: Kenneth Askew, 28, Anthony Joynes, 31, were taken into custody by street crime detectives after they saw one of the men drop something on the ground. Cops recovered what turned out to be Oxycodone pills. Both men were arrested and hit with drug charges and distribution charges since they were within 500 feet of a park. Askew was also charged with hindering apprehension.
Murder: A man was arrested and charged in the fatal stabbing of a city woman who was killed in Perth Amboy. Benny M. Pichardo Santos Arias, 25, of Perth Amboy, faces murder and weapons charges along with hindering his own apprehension in the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old woman who was six months pregnant. On Thursday, police responded to the intersection of Sayre and Steadman Avenue and found Esmeralda Cedeno suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy where she was pronounced dead from her injuries; the baby also died. Autopsies on both are pending. Detective Frank Cristiano of the Perth Amboy Police Department and Detective Erik Larsen of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are leading the murder probe. Arias is being held at the Middlesex County Correction Center in North Brunswick pending a detention hearing.
