LALDEF Exec Director Adriana Abizadeh guest speaker for One Table Café dinner
A May 2018 online article identified eating with strangers as a trending opportunity.
The post arrived late for dinner when one considers that such adventures have occurred at Trinity Church in Princeton for the past seven years as the church-sponsored One Table Café sends an open invitation for guests to enjoy a threecourse meal with a donate-what The you-can requirement.
third-Friday of almost every month dining opportunity remains a popular meal for local residents who have no issue with new faces.
Friday, Nov. 16 offers a meal prepared by the Fenwick Hospitality Group founded by Jim Nawn in 1998. Nawn initiated the development of Great Road Farm, a certified organic farm nestled on 112 acres of preserved farmland in Skillman for almost a decade.
The next development phase featured creation of a community eatery that highlighted a farm-to-table initiative. That goal produced a farm-fresh eatery named Agricola which has plated numerous One Table Café meals during the meal’s history.
This week’s meal includes a presentation by Adriana Abizadeh, executive director for the Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund, an immigration support organization that originated in Princeton then moved to Trenton.
Established in 2004, LALDEF, sought to support low-income Latino immigrant communities of Mercer County. Objectives include the defense of rights for Latin American community members and to guide clients to health care and education support.
LALDEF operates as one of the most important communitybuilding organizations in the capital city as initiatives. Abizadeh will discuss an array of services offered by her South Clinton Ave.-based organization.
One Table Café organizers said room remains for this week’s event that supports hunger elimination efforts made by Mercer Street Friends, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, Bread for the World and Episcopal Relief and Development.
