Pearl Harbor

-

Today, December 7, 1941, 77 years ago, the empire of Japan bombed and strafed the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian islands. They attacked all Army, Marine, Army Air Corp (Air Force now) and Naval bases.

My father was a young man in the Army at Schofield Barracks at the time of the attack. He fought throughout the Pacific during WWII, wounded several times and received the Bronze Star with V device.

I saw nothing of this day in the newspaper and they don’t even teach it in history class.

My family has always served our country in the military proudly and today I laid on wreath on his grave at the Veterans Cemetery. My children know of this day and still don’t understand that people don’t know this date.

Lest We Forget.

Thank you and your family for your service. We actually looked for a story on the wire about some anniversary events, but of course today’s paper has the coverage of the event that was held on the anniversary. — Ed Note
