Sex Assault: Santos Itzep, 28, was arrested after cops responded to a sex assault. Santos is accused of sexually assaulting a family member on at least two occasions three years ago. The sex assaults happened on Hamilton Avenue. TPD’s special victims unit investigated the crimes, which the victim reported to a guidance counselor who, in turn, alerted cops to the alleged abuse.
Drug Pop: Rafael Pena, 25, Luis Frias-Burgos, 28, and Key Calderon-DeJesus, 23, was arrested by members of the street crimes unit on Lamberton Street where detectives were conducting a narcotics investigation following complaints about drug activity. Cops recovered more than 500grams of crack cocaine and $15,380in cash; they also seized 145 oxycodone pills and one gram of marijuana. All were hit with various drug and drug-dealing charges. If The Glove Fits: Francisco Baez, 41, was arrested and charged after cops responded at the Quick Stop Food Store on Chambers Street. The owner was trying to keep Baez there until cops arrived. Baez apparently jacked a box of gloves from the store. Cops arrested him at the scene. No injuries were reported.
Bad Way to Bring in New Year: Eddie Aponte, 28, was arrested and charged in connection with a crime that happened earlier this month, on New Year’s Day, cops said. The victim and Aponte were out at a Cummings Avenue bar until around 2a.m. before going back to his Mott Street home. At the home, the two got into an argument. Aponte allegedly ripped off her shirt and went into a closet to grab a knife. He threatened to “f—k her up” and told her she didn’t “know what I’m capable of.” The victim asked Aponte what he planned to do with the knife to which he allegedly replied, he was going to “tear you up.” The victim pushed Aponte who lost control of the knife. The victim threw it out the door and tried to escape but Aponte held her at the home against her will. She tried to leave again when he fell asleep but he awoke before she could get out the door. They both fell asleep and the victim finally escaped after Aponte left for work. She drove home and called the cops. Aponte was hit with charges of terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal restraint. It’s unclear if cops recovered the knife the suspect allegedly wielded during the incident.
Child Porn: Maruthavanan Seeni Nadar, 33, of East Windsor, was released by a judge following a detention hearing related to charges he possessed and distributed child pornography. Nadar was placed on house arrest with electronic monitoring and cannot use the internet while his case plays out, prosecutors said in a news release. He had been at the county jail since he was arrested last month on seconddegree crimes. Detectives this week filed additional obstruction charges against him. Authorities from the state police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force were on to Nadar after they received a cyber tip in March of last year that someone in East Windsor was uploading child porn. Detectives identified Nadar as a suspect and tracked him down at his home. Nadar gave police a fake ID with the name Madham Kaliamma when he was arrested, but authorities later learned his real name. More Child Porn: Callen Kapschock, 56, of Hamilton, was sent to prison Friday for six years for having more than 49,000child porn files in his possession. The township mechanic must serve three of those years before he’s eligible for parole in a sentence handed down by Mercer County Superior Court Judge Peter Warshaw. Kapschock pleaded guilty last year to a second-degree charge of child porn distribution as part of an AG-led crackdown of child sex predators dubbed “Operation Safety Net.” Kapschock was one of 79people arrested in the statewide sex sting, which also nabbed former Trenton cop Paul Marinelli. Kapschock must register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and will be placed on lifetime parole supervision when he gets out of the slammer. “We are determined to seek lengthy prison sentences for super possessors of child pornography like Kapschock, because the more that offenders collect and distribute these materials, the more they drive the terrible sexual abuse of young children,” Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said in a statement. Detectives monitoring a peer-to-peer file sharing network popular among sex offenders downloaded more than 25files of child pornography from a shared folder at an IP address traced to Kapschock, the AG’s office said. Authorities armed with a search warrant hit Kapschock’s residence and arrested him last August, seizing his desktop computer, which contained numerous files of child pornography. A forensic examination revealed more than 49,000videos and images of child pornography.
