Alyssa Maslowski of Hamilton High School West

-

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” This beautiful quote by Elizabeth Andrew, a Team Leader for Habitat for Humanity, is the perfect description of Hamilton High School West senior, Alyssa Maslowski. She is an extraordinary student who has dedicated hundreds of hours to both the school and community through her volunteer work.

The community has benefited greatly from the time Alyssa has spent working with several local organizations. She is a “Friend of the Library” at the Hamilton Township Public library, organizing and helping to sell donated books to the public. She is also a Counselor at both the CYO camp and Safety Town. Alyssa loves children, and believes that volunteering her time is what she describes as “good for the community.”

Alyssa was selected this year by her School Principal as the School Board Student Representative. She is responsible for attending monthly board meetings, reporting on school initiatives and events. What a great honor! Alyssa is the Student Government President, a Peer Leader and Key Club Secretary. Her diligence, maturity, and desire for knowledge helped her to earn membership into both the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. Through these clubs and organizations, she has volunteered her free time to help both fellow students and the community. Melodie Gordon, HHW Student Government Advisor, reports, “Alyssa has evolved into a true leader from the timid underclassmen that I first met. As Student Government President, she leads with authority, fairness, and purpose. I can always count on her to get things accomplished.”

Alyssa is ranked 16th in her senior class with a 4.44 GPA. She has pursued a rigorous academic program, and been very successful. Her hard work and dedication to her academic studies has earned her many fantastic achievements.
