Lauren Coppins is a senior at Hopewell Valley Central High School, where she is currently a member of the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society. She is a two-time recipient of the Principal’s High Academic Honor Award and has also received the AP Scholar award. Lauren recently finished her final season on the Hopewell Valley Girls Tennis Team, serving as a varsity co-captain and leading her team through county and state tournaments. She was named “Bulldog of the Month” in the November 2018 issue of Hopewell Valley Neighbors magazine, and she received the Team Leadership award at the conclusion of the season.

Lauren is also involved in several clubs and organizations at Hopewell Valley. For the past four years, Lauren has served on Student Government as Class Historian, helping her other officers coordinate fundraising events and activities to raise money for their class. As an officer of the “PANDA” club, Lauren helps facilitate outreaches at Timberlane Middle School to educate students on the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse. She is an active member of DECA and Model United Nations, winning several awards for her achievements at regional conferences and competitions. Lauren is also a part of the Leadership Corps, which is a group of juniors and seniors who work in underclassmen gym periods to lead team building activities and run monthly outreaches.

Lauren is heavily involved in her community as the chair of the Hopewell Township Youth Advisory Board. The members of this board are dedicated to learning about and advising upon local government issues. Lauren has a passion for channeling her skills and interests into positive service for the Hopewell community, which is why she volunteers as a French tutor at Timberlane Middle School and a unified tennis partner for the Special Olympics of New Jersey. During the spring, she plays doubles with Special Olympics athletes in preparation for the Summer Games at TCNJ each June.

Through Lauren’s rigorous curriculum at CHS and various extracurriculars, she has discovered passions for business, public policy, and international affairs. She intends on studying international business in college and also wants to explore her interests in political science and journalism. She hopes her love for travel and global service will lead her to study or work abroad in the future.
