Matthew Lequang of Notre Dame High School
Notre Dame High School’s Matthew Lequang is an outstanding studentathlete and one of the most dominant swimmers in the state of New Jersey. Matt has played an integral part in the success of the Notre Dame Boys Swimming Team for three years. During his tenure, the team holds a record of 35-4-1. This year, the team had an undefeated regular season.
Lequang holds the following Notre Dame High School records:
200 meter free – broke as a sophomore and again as a junior
400 meter free -- broke as a sophomore and again as a junior
200 yard free -- broke as a sophomore and again as a junior
500 yard free -- broke as a sophomore and again as a junior
100 yard free – broke as a junior
200 yard IM – broke as a junior
100-yard fly – broke as a senior
He also holds the following Mercer County records:
200 meter free -- broke as a junior
400 meter free -- broke as a junior
Matt competed in the State Meet of Champions as a sophomore and a junior. As a sophomore he placed third in the 200 yard free and fourth in the 500 yard free. As a junior, he came in first claiming the State Championship in the 200 yard free while finishing second in the 500 yard free. With the Mercer County Championship and Meet of Champions lying ahead this year, look forward to Lequang being a major player.
Lequang is committed to continue his academic and swimming careers collegiately at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Notre Dame Athletic Director Rich Roche describes Matt as “a leader, a role model and a young man of character who is mature beyond his years.”
