Back Talk
Real Henderson
Kudos to Pamela Thoresen and The Trentonian for Saturday’s edition exposing Hamilton mayoral candidate Henderson’s true character. I actually L-O-L when I read his quote “I’m a quality person”. He just got caught being himself and his attempt to put a positive spin on it was laughable. He has some serious issues going on to the point that he is quite possibly dangerous. Thankfully, his brand of intimidation can’t work in a voting booth. I truly hope that the voters of Hamilton Township see this guy for what he really is. — Hamilton voter
We try to tell all sides of the story. We’ve reported on his online posts before, but even more have been brought to light, so we needed to report again. — Ed Note

I hope columnist Jeff Edelstein lives a long time, long enough to witness enough of the devastating effects to our animal brethren caused by our plastic garbage, to change his mind about his advocacy for more consumer single use plastic. I was shocked and disgusted by Edelstein’s flippant article in which he whines about government efforts to cut back on our damage to the ecosystems we live in, and fortunately, I believe his attitude is that of a small minority in our collective concern for fate of our planet.

I mean, I can’t speak for Jeff, but when I read that column I took away from it that he felt there were more important issues facing our government than plastic straws. I don’t know the precise statistics, but it is true that plastic straws are only a very small percentage of the plastic waste out there, so local bans on straws seems pretty ineffective and mostly just for show. I personally don’t mind the paper straws, so I’m okay if more businesses drop plastic straws, but I agree with Jeff that there are more pressing issues to legislate in New Jersey than pushing an ineffective solution to a problem that needs more than a symbolic gesture. — Ed Note
