City will have meet-andgreet with acting super
TRENTON » The city’s new public schools chief wants to hear from the community.
Interim Superintendent Ronald C. Lee and the Trenton Board of Education will host a series of community forums beginning next Thursday to introduce the community to the district’s new leadership.
The first forum takes place 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17 in the auditorium of the Trenton Board of Education building at 108 N. Clinton Ave. Light refreshments will be served, the district announced Thursday in a press release.
The meet-and-greet forums are “designed to introduce the community to Mr. Lee and to allow him to hear from the community in terms of the current and future direction of the school district,” the district said in the release.
Lee, the former superintendent of the Orange School District, became Trenton’s interim schools chief effective Sept. 1. He replaced former Superintendent Fred McDowell, who resigned at the end of August for personal reasons.
Lee previously served as interim superintendent in Orange and as chief financial officer and business administrator of Newark Public Schools, according to his LinkedIn profile. He has been described as the “visionary and driving force behind the STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges,” which celebrated its grand opening last year.
Lee has a master’s degree in education from Saint Peter’s University and a bachelor’s from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. Before serving in the public education sector, Lee previously worked for KPMG Audit for nearly eight years as a private auditor.
Trenton Public Schools in the near future is expected to announce the dates and details for subsequent forums following the initial Oct. 17 meet and greet.
“As this is the first in a series,” the district said, “future dates and locations will be announced.”
