North Hunterdon storms to team title at John Goles Tournament

WASHINGTON >> Quite possibly the team that will be ranked No. 1 when The Trentonian’s Area Wrestling Ratings debut early next month, North Hunterdon stormed to the championship of the John Goles Tournament at Warren Hills Friday.

The Lions easily won the title with 256 points. Delaware Valley came in fourth and Hopewell Valley was fifth in the nine-team field.

North Hunterdon’s dominance was reflected in the fact the heavy- weight final was actually between two of its one wrestlers as teams were allowed to enter more than one entry in a weight. North Hunterdon had five champions in all, including all the upperweights.

The lone champion for Delaware

Valley was Gage Crater, who beat Jared Lee of Warren Hills in the 126-pound final by the score of 3-1.

Hopewell Valley did not have any champs, but did a second from Christian Cacciabaudo at 220 pounds. The Bulldogs also got thirds from Josh Beigman at 182 and Brian LaCross at 195. Christian Micikas was fourth for Hopewell Valley at 120 pounds.
