Taylor Swift blasts Ginny & Georgia’ for ‘deeply sexist’ joke

-

LOS ANGELES >> Taylor Swift isn’t a fan of Netflix’s new series “Ginny & Georgia,” and the singer made that very clear Monday when she slammed the show on Twitter.

The pop superstar blasted the angsty comedy after one of its lead characters made a joke about the singer’s past boyfriends — a jab the singer-songwriter called “lazy” and “deeply sexist.”

The line was delivered by the titular Ginny (Antonia Gentry), a biracial 15-yearold who relocates to New England with her 30-yearold mom, Georgia (Brianne Howey), and younger brother.

Swift, 31, included a subtitled image of the barb Ginny flung at Georgia: “What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.”

And, it turns out, Swift cares a lot.

“Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back,” the singer-songwriter tweeted.

“How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this (expletive) as FuNnY. Also, @netflix after Miss Americana this outfit doesn’t look cute on you Happy Women’s History Month I guess.”

Lady Gaga’s dog walker speaks out after shooting

LOS ANGELES >> Lady Gaga’s dog walker, who was shot last week during a robbery in Hollywood when two of the singer’s French bulldogs were stolen, described the violence and his recovery “from a very close call with death” in social media posts.

Ryan Fischer’s posts included pictures taken from his hospital bed, where he says “(a) lot of healing still needs to happen,” but he looks forward to reuniting with the dogs.

Fischer was shot once as he walked three of Lady Gaga’s dogs last Wednesday night on a street just off the famed Sunset Boulevard. Video captured by the doorbell camera of a nearby home captured Fischer’s screams of “Oh my God! I’ve been shot!” and “Help me!” and “I’m bleeding out from my chest!”

Police are seeking two men in the attack and said Monday they are still investigating.

The two dogs were returned unharmed Friday.

Comic-Con to remain virtual in 2021

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. >> San Diego Comic-Con will remain virtual for the July event, but organizers are planning for a smaller-scale gathering later this year.

Comic-Con announced Monday that the annual confab will return to virtual for a second-straight year between July 23-25. The inperson experience was canceled again due to coronavirus-related cautions around large gatherings.

Organizers said postponements and other challenges caused by the pandemic left them with “limited financial resources.” As a result, the virtual convention in July was reduced from four to three days. However, organizers said they are planning a smaller in-person November event in San Diego.
