Peddie graduate Gorajek starring for West Point

It has been a superb sophomore season for Julia Gorajek at West Point, and her performanc­e earned her a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team.

Gorajek, who followed her sisters Carolyn and Lauren to Peddie and to excellence in college, leads the team and is fourth in the Patriot League with a career-high 52 goals, which are the second-most in West Point history.

She is fourth in the league in goals and goals per game.

She is second on the team in assists with 17 and in points with 69, which ranks sixth in the league. She netted a career-high six goals in the win over Holy Cross and tied a career-high in points with seven against Holy Cross and Bucknell. Her career 3.8 points per game and 2.89 goals per game rank first in program history.

Amon, Elder Named All-NJAC

Elder started all 30 games for Stockton and hit at a .339 clip, second on the team, and led the Ospreys in runs (28), on-base percentage (.464) and stolen bases (17; tied-2nd in NJAC).

The outfielder also totaled nine doubles, two triples, two home runs and 15 RBI.

Nitti Has Record Year at Stockton

Jordan Nitti (Steinert) batted .478 with a team-high 11 hits plus three runs scored and six RBI this week for Stockton.

The freshman broke the singleseas­on record with his 66th hit against Rutgers-Newark. The previous mark was 65 set by Matt Allen (2010).

Mayernik Leads No. 4 TCNJ over No. 2 Kean

Julia Mayernik (Northern Burlington) was a perfect 3-for-3 and drove home four runs as The College of New Jersey rallied to defeat Kean in the NJAC softball playoffs.

The Lions (27-8) and No. 1 Rowan are the only undefeated teams in the bracket and will meet on Friday.

Mayernik was also an All-NJAC First Team selection.

Local Players Earn All-NJAC Softball Honors

Joining Mayernik on the All-NJAC Softball First Team are Heather Clevenger (Nottingham) from Kean and Michaela Luyber (Bordentown) from Stockton.

Second Team honors went to Paige Metz (Neshaminy) from Kean, Vanessa Tancini (Truman) from Stockton and Annabella Marino (Bordentown) from Kean.

Baseball: Giovanni Sciarrotta (Steinert) batted .333 with four runs, five RBI and one double for the week for Stockton. …Jack McDermott (Yardley/Holy Ghost) is batting .292 for Amherst. …Cole Palmeri (Hun) is hitting .311 with a team-high 37 RBI for Colby. …Adam Wijaya (Hun) and Aidan Regan (Princeton) will be with Hamilton in the NESCAC playoffs. Regan pitched a scoreless inning for Hamilton in a win over St. Lawrence. …Kyle Muller (Steinert) pitched 1.1 innings for Rutgers in a game against Seton Hall. …Marco Mannino (Northern Burlington) earned his first NJAC Rookie of the Week honor after helping lead Rowan to a 4-0 week. He batted .375 (6-for-16) with six runs scored and four RBI as the Profs swept both RutgersCam­den and Rutgers-Newark.

Men’s Lacrosse: Jake Bennett (Princeton Day) has nine goals and 14 assists for Amherst in the NESCAC playoffs. …Henry Murray (Lawrencevi­lle) is with Tufts in the NESCAC semifinals. …Joey Rosen (Lawrencevi­lle) and Steve Bray (Lawrencevi­lle) are with Wesleyan in the NESCAC semifinals. …Calvin Caputo (Princeton Day) had five goals and two assists for Williams in a pair of games.

Softball: Vanessa Tancini (Truman) hit .474 with a triple and is tied for third in the NJAC with 23 steals. Track and Field: Carson Latham (Bordentown) was a part of Stockton’s relay team that ran 42.17 seconds in the prelims at Penn Relays to break the school record of 42.20 seconds that was set back in 1976. The quartet followed up the school record with a time of 42.21 seconds that was just four hundredths off that mark and good for fifth place in the Men’s 4×100 Eastern final at the Penn Relays. …Jenna Vigorito (Northern Burlington) also hit a personal best and finished fifth out of 32 in the discus at the Relay for Stockton.

Women’s Lacrosse: Julia Rossi (Notre Dame) was named to the All-PSAC Second Team from West Chester. …Emalie Clothier (Rancocas Valley) was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after two critical caused turnovers in Rutgers’ win over Ohio State. …Ellie Schofield (Princeton Day) was with Bowdoin in the NESCAC playoffs. …Maddie Spratt (Pennsbury) was the Patriot League Rookie of the Week after recording five points on two goals and three assists, while picking up three ground balls and causing one turnover in a pair of games for American.
