SERIES HISTORY: Rider leads, 13-12. The two sides met 13 times during the five seasons the Broncs spent as a member of the Northeast Conference, including nine times over Rider’s last three years in that league between 1994-95 through 1996-97.

KENPOM RANK: Rider 215; Mount St. Mary’s 206 SCOUTING RIDER: The Broncs snapped a three-game skid last time out with a 26-point victory over former MAAC rival Monmouth, and, ironically, their league opener is against the school the conference brought in to replace the Hawks. Rider shot a season-best 57.7% last time out and were led by Dwight Murray Jr. and Mervin James with 17 points each. Murray has scored at least 17points in all six games, including matching a career-best 30in a loss to Central Arkansas in Ireland, and leads the MAAC in scoring at 19.3 points per game. The key will be the other players around Murray making shots the way they did on Wednesday night, mainly, Allen Powell (9.8 points) and James (10.7 points). SCOUTING MOUNT ST. MARY’S: The Mount introduced itself to the MAAC with a victory over defending tournament champion Saint Peter’s in Jersey City behind 28points from guard Jalen Benjamin. The 5-10 senior shot 10-of-17 from the floor, including 5-of-6 on 3s. He’s second behind Murray in scoring at 19.1 points per game, and that matchup promises to be as good as the mid-major level. Dakota Leffew (13.0points) and Malik Jefferson (9.9 points, 7.5 rebounds) are also players to watch. The Mountaineers are 4-2in their last six games after an 0-2start, including a nice 2-1 west coast trip with wins over Cal Poly and Pacific.
