SCOUTING PRINCETON: During this eight-game winning streak, the Tigers have played exceptional defense. Not only have they outscored opponents by nearly 19 points per game (77.6-59), they have held them to 37.4% overall from the field and 27.4% on 3s. Both of those numbers would rank in the top-25nationally. Senior forward Tosan Evbuomwan (13.4points, 7.0rebounds, team-high 34assists) will be a key figure in dealing with Iona’s defensive pressure. At 6-foot-8, he’s the ultimate pressure release valve because he handles the ball like a guard. Keeshawn Kellman, the 6-foot-9, 240-pound center, is coming off back-to-back strong games after a little lull and has to stay out of foul trouble against the Gaels’ 6-foot-9, 240-pound hammer Nelly Junior Joseph, who is coming off a season-high 24 points against St. Bonaventure. SCOUTING IONA: Pitino’s Gales implement his trademark fullcourt pressure and how Princeton handles that is likely to determine the outcome. The Gaels turned St. Bonaventure over 21times on Sunday and are forcing 17 per game. Daniss Jenkins, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Dallas, is averaging 17.6points and 6.8assists, while his backcourt running mate Walter Clayton Jr. puts in 16points per contest. Both are shooting 41% from beyond the arc. Junior Joseph, coming off that seasonbest game against the Bonnies, is a handful in the post at 13points and 6.8 rebounds.
