SCOUTING PRINCETON: The Tigers are coming off a disappointing lose at Dartmouth in which they gave up 48second-half points. Still, they are good shape to make the top four and qualify for the Ivy League Tournament, and a pair of wins this weekend would just about get them over the line (not to mention put them back in control of the race to the regular-season title). … Princeton needs to tighten up its defense after allowing over 80points in four of the last five games. If you eliminate the victory over lowly Columbia, the other four opponents have shot at least 47.7% from the field. … Opponents are shooting 36.5% on 3s in 10Ivy games against the Tigers, which ranks them as the worst 3-point percentage defense in the conference play. …Princeton still ranks second in the Ivy in scoring offense (76.5points in 10conference games) despite shooting 32.8% on 3s in league contests. … Senior forward Tosan Evbuomwan has been on a tear over the last six games, averaging 20points, 5.3rebounds and five assists. SCOUTING BROWN: Mike Martin is the winningest coach in program history after the Bears out-paced Cornell for a third straight victory last time out. That triumph put them at 6-4in the league and in position to make the Ivy Tournament for the first time. … Guard Kino Lilly Jr. ranks third in the Ivy in scoring at 17points per game (19.8in 10Ivy contests) and has a knack for cooking Princeton’s defense. He put in 26points in the first meeting as Brown rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to win, 72-70. … Guard Paxton Wojcik (13.8points, 39.4% on 3s) and forward Nana Owusu-Anane (10.6points, eight rebounds) are also players to watch. SCOUTING YALE: Bulldogs got off to a slow start in league play, but James Jones has righted the ship and has them playing their best ball in the midst of a six-game winning streak. This run includes a win over Princeton in New Haven, a game in which Yale scored 52points and shot 72% in the second half. … Bulldogs have top-rated defense in the Ivy as they give up just 61.1points and hold opponents to 39.3% from the field. Both statistics rank 12th nationally. … Four players average 10or more points per game, led by forward Matt Knowling at 14.9points. Yale gets its 3-point shooting from guards John Poulakidas (10.7points, 38%) and August Mahoney (10points, 47.2%). E.J. Jarvis chips in 10.7points and 5.2rebounds.
