- Staff report

ROBBINSVILLE >> Evan Bunnell celebrated Senior Day with a milestone.

Bunnell scored 24 points to go over 1,000 for his career and the Robbinsville boys basketball team cruised to an 81-42 victory over Roselle in a non-league game on Saturday afternoon.

Bunnell needed just 12 points to reach the milestone marker and achieved it easily. He leads the CVC with a 21.5 points per game average and is also the Ravens’ leading rebounder.

“I am 100 percent going to be nominating him for Player of the Year, and it’s not just because of the scoring,” coach Conor Hayes said following Friday night’s big win over Princeton High.. “I don’t know how many other teams can lose their MVP from last season and have another person just put their team on their back and continue to push forward, to keep everybody focused, to keep everybody moving in one direction together.

“And on top of that just carry us in games offensively, come up with big rebounds for us when we need them, so absolutely I think he’s definitely a contender for Player of the Year.”

Bunnell has a chance to break Luke Olshevski’s program record of 1,096 points set in 2017.

Myles Davis added 13 points for the Ravens (14-7), who will be seeded in the MCT top 8 next week.

FLORENCE >> Srijan Velury scored 22 points, Malachi Jeffers-Viera added 18 and the Knights (11-9) followed up their huge upset over Ewing by pulling away from the Flashes (8-10).
