North Coast residents will come together at the Cavalier Resort on Jan. 15 to honor Consuelo Macedo and Linn’s Restaurant, selected recently by the Cambria Chamber of Commerce as the 2018 citizen and business of the year, respectively.

In the nomination, Macedo was lauded for her tireless work for and dedication to such nonprofits as the Cambria Historical Society, Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, Friends of the Cambria Library, American Legion Post No. 432, Native Daughters of the Golden West, University Women and Chemo Diva (she grows her hair long and after getting it cut, she donates the locks for the creation of wigs for cancer patients).

She has just retired after nearly 20 years of writing the Culinary Corner column in The Cambrian.

Linn’s and the Linn family were selected because of their ongoing community and fundraising efforts, work to help build Cambria’s tourism economy. They were nominated by last year’s business winner, Shanny Covey of Robin’s restaurant.
