Oklahoma: Quarterback and the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray was still dealing with a cough and some sniffles Thursday, two days before the fourth-ranked Sooners will face top-ranked Alabama on Saturday in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Orange Bowl.
Alabama: The Crimson Tide had three players suspended for Saturday’s Orange Bowl game against Oklahoma, but the school did not provide details as to why. Coach Nick Saban said starting left guard Deonte Brown, tight end Kedrick James and offensive lineman Elliot Baker committed an NCAA violation and would not play again this season. None of the players made the trip to Miami with the team.
Notre Dame: Coach Brian Kelly said quarterback Brandon Wimbush has taken the steps necessary to transfer after this season, but no final decision has been made.
