Newsom ignores voters

The Tribune (SLO) - - Opinion -

Regarding: “Support the death penalty in California?” (March 14), Gov. Gavin Newsom neglects to take into consideration that California voters decided to keep the death penalty in 2016, and speed up the process. As a future voter, I would hope my governor would respect the opinions of the majority of voters. Although the death penalty is flawed, it needs to be reformed, not abolished. One of Newsom’s campaign promises was to respect the wishes of the people about the death penalty. Do you think Newsom can look into the eyes of the family and friends of murder victims, and tell them that their murderers deserve to live? – Lya Abel, Paso Robles
