An­gels: Out­fielder Mike Trout is day-to-day af­ter strain­ing his right groin Tues­day against the Mil­wau­kee Brew­ers. Fol­low­ing his team’s 11-8 vic­tory, Trout said he first felt dis­com­fort af­ter com­plet­ing a work­out ear­lier in the day. Car­di­nals: Three-time All-Star in­fielder Matt Car­pen­ter and St. Louis agreed to a con­tract for 2020 and ‘21, a deal that in­cludes an op­tion for 2022 that could be­come guar­an­teed. The 33-yearold has a $14.5 mil­lion salary this sea­son a part of a $52 mil­lion, six-year deal that in­cluded an $18.5 mil­lion club op­tion for 2020 with a $2 mil­lion buy­out.

Braves: At­lanta po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the bur­glary of out­fielder Nick Markakis’s home and say $20,000, five guns and other items were stolen while the team was on a road trip. Cubs: Left-han­der Jon Lester was put on the 10-day injured list be­cause of a strained left ham­string. Braves-Rock­ies: Colorado post­poned Wed­nes­day’s game against At­lanta be­cause of in­clement weather. The game will be made up Aug. 26 in Den­ver.
