Free class planned on preventing falls by seniors
Seniors and others concerned about the risk of falling are invited to attend a free six-week class about preventing those falls.
The classes start April 16. According to www.seniorliving.org, “seniors are at particular risk of falls, including falls that result in potentially serious, even life-altering injuries.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that one in four seniors experiences at least one fall every year.” The Cambria Community Healthcare District is partnering with the county’s Public Health Department to offer the class series from 2 to 3 p.m. on six consecutive Tuesdays April 16 through May 21.
The classes will be offered in the Old Grammar School Board Room, 1350 Main St. Topics are designed to help seniors stay independent and prevent falls through exercise and other means, including discussions about fall risks.
