No negotiation with Venezuela’s Maduro, US says
The United States for now has ruled out holding negotiations with Nicolás Maduro and instead is focused on how to orchestrate a “dignified exit” for the Venezuelan leader after an uprising failed to oust him.
“We have been very clear that negotiations with Maduro are not possible,” a senior State Department official told the Miami Herald.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Juan Guaidó on Thursday confirmed an invitation from Norway to explore potential talks. Representatives from Europe and Latin America arrived in Caracas Thursday to offer a proposal for new elections.
