- John Leuzzi

Patrick Murphy is not just one of the more prominent head coaching figures in college softball, but also one of the winningest coaches in the sport.

Murphy, who is in his 25th season associated with the Alabama softball program, ranks 15th among all Division I college softball coaches — and fifth among active coaches — at 1,263 career wins. He also has compiled an impressive postseason resume, given how long he has coached the Crimson Tide.

Throughout his tenure in Tuscaloosa, which began in 1996 as an assistant coach under then-Alabama head coach Kalum Haack, Murphy has led the Alabama softball program to 24 consecutive trips to the postseason in the NCAA Tournament and 14 Women's College World Series trips.

As the Tide look to bounce back from an early exit in last week's SEC Tournament, Murphy kicks off his 25th NCAA Tournament appearance on Friday, May 17 at 3:30 p.m. CT against the University of South Carolina Upstate.

Murphy has appeared in 24 consecutive NCAA Tournaments during his 25year tenure in Tuscaloosa as Alabama's head coach.
