POLICE REPORTS

The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymousl­y report crime informatio­n, call 463-6205.

KEYS TAKEN: Caller at the Forest Club on North State Street reported at 3:45 a.m. Jan. 10 that people he didn’t know took his keys because he had too much to drink. An officer responded and reported that the “pretty intoxicate­d” person would be sleeping it off and try and make a report later. TRAFFIC HAZARD: Caller in the 200 block of Hospital Drive reported at 4:07 a.m. Jan. 10 that someone had kicked a barrier into the road, causing a traffic hazard. An officer checked the area but found no hazard. STOLEN VEHICLE: Caller in the 400 block of East Perkins Street reported at 8:43 a.m. Jan. 10 that a trailer and chain had been stolen. An officer took a report.

DOG BARKING: Caller in the 400 block of Mendocino Drive reported at 9:48 a.m. Jan. 10 that dogs there were regularly outside without shelter, a large dog was “chained to a cord for long periods” and that there was “incessant barking.” An officer responded and reported that the dogs had food, water and shelter. DRUG POSSESSION: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of South State Street at 9:51 p.m. Jan. 10 and arrested a 33-year-old Ukiah woman and a 26-year- old Ukiah resident for possession of controlled substances and violating their probations. They were both cited and released.

STOLEN CHECKS: Caller at Redwood Credit Union reported at 10:25 a.m. Jan. 10 that checks had been stolen from that location. An officer took a report. POSSIBLE ANIMAL ABUSE: Caller in the 100 block of South Orchard Avenue reported at 8:41 p.m. Jan. 10 that a dog was tied in the back of a pickup truck in a manner that seemed abusive. An officer responded and reported that the dog was fine. At 9:23 p.m., several more callers reported seeing the dog in the back of the truck and declaring the incident to be possible animal abuse. The incident was declared previously dealt with.

SHOTS FIRED: Caller in the 200 block of Observator­y Avenue reported at 12:47 a.m. Jan. 11 hearing possible shots fired. An officer checked the area and found it quiet.

ENCAMPMENT: Caller in the 500 block of Oak Manor Drive reported at 8:20 a.m. Jan. 11 that people were camping in the playground equipment at the park. An officer responded and the group left upon request. MOTHER WITHDREW MONEY: Caller on West Perkins Street reported at 12:58 p.m. Jan. 11 that his mother withdrew a “large amount of money from their joint account” after an argument. An officer responded and determined that the account belonged to the mother and the caller was counseled and advised. WELFARE CHECK: Caller in the 900 block of North State Street reported at 9:38 p.m. Jan. 11 that a man inside the restaurant appeared “disabled with no way to get home.” An officer responded and arrested a 24-year- old Lake County man for being drunk in public. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail. Those arrested by law enforcemen­t officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the informatio­n is in error should contact the appropriat­e agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcemen­t agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
