- Submitted

Staff, faculty, and administration at Mendocino College are looking forward to a busy spring semester, which begins Jan. 21. Under the direction of InterimSuperintendent/President Eileen Cichocki, the college continues to focus on student success while implementing many new positive changes. Here are just a few major areas of concentration for the college in 2020:

Upcoming Accreditation Visit

Mendocino College will undergo a regularly scheduled comprehensive evaluation visit in February 2020 by a team representing the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). The college is currently accredited by the ACCJC and was last evaluated and reaffirmed in June 2014. This upcoming review coincides with the normal accreditation visit cycle of every six years.

Career Education

Mendocino College embraces its role as an intellectual, economic, and cultural anchor for the region and is committed to graduating students who are workforce ready. The college offers several in- demand career education programs such as Automotive Technology, Agriculture, Digital Arts and Media, Culinary Arts Management, and more. In the near future, the college is looking forward to expanding its Sustainable Construction and Energy Technology program in order to meet local construction needs. The spring 2020 semester also brings the first cohort of Mendocino College Physical Therapy Assistant Program students!

Promise Scholarship

In order to make college affordable for all students in the community, Mendocino College is now offering the Promise Scholarship. By completing at least 12 units each semester of the first year of college, students could have all enrollment fees covered by a combination of grants and other funds. The intent of the Promise Scholarship is to provide free education to all first-time, first-year students, even if they do not qualify for financial aid.

There is still time to register for spring 2020 classes! Visit www. mendocino.edu for more information.
