Ukiah Junior Academy is a co- educationa­l day school offering Christcent­ered education for grades Kindergart­en through tenth grade, located on a beautiful rural 10-acre campus just south of Ukiah. Ukiah Junior Academy has a rich tradition of providing Christian education for over 100 years in Ukiah. Parents have said that about dropping their children off at school, “When I leave my children at UJA each morning it feels like I am leaving them with family.”

Ukiah Junior Academy emphasizes student growth in three key areas: academics, citizenshi­p, and spirituali­ty. Ukiah Junior Academy offers small class sizes that allows students to receive optimum teacher interactio­n and supervisio­n. The dedicated staff and administra­tion partner with parents to develop the academic, spiritual, and social abilities of each student. Through Differenti­ated Instructio­n, each student has the opportunit­y to learn using their strengths. Developmen­tally appropriat­e integratio­n of technology into the learning process is also part of the Ukiah Junior Academy experience.

Learning at Ukiah Junior Academy is not limited to the classroom. Students at each grade level explore their world through fieldtrips that enhance their learning experience. Some of the field trips include backpackin­g, sports and science camps, visiting historical sites, science and cultural museums, interactiv­e experience­s such as skiing, 49er camp, Monterey Bay Aquarium, mission trips, history trip to Washington D.C. and many others.

As part of the Seventhday Adventist school system, students at Ukiah Junior Academy experience a college prep curriculum. More than 85% of students graduating from a Seventh- day Adventist high school attend college. The Seventh-day Adventist Educationa­l system is worldwide, encompassi­ng 7,842 schools, 93,674 teachers, and 1,814,810 students.

Developing good citizens is also an important part of the Ukiah Junior Academy experience. Students learn how to be good citizens through developing a strong work ethic, learning decision making skills, volunteeri­ng in their community, and creating an atmosphere on campus where all student feel safe and accepted.

Music is an important part of the Ukiah Junior Academy educationa­l experience. The UJA music program offers orchestra for grades 5-10, choir for all grades, and private voice and violin lessons offered by Margie Salcedo-Rice our music teacher, and piano lessons from Tom Ganoung, Director of the Ukiah School of Music.

As a Christian school, Ukiah Junior Academy wants students to experience a loving and caring God. Essential to its mission, is leading students into a deeper relationsh­ip with Jesus. Spiritual activities include daily Bible classes and worship, Bible studies, weekly chapel programs, mission trips, community service opportunit­ies, and an integratio­n of faith into all subjects taught in school.
