Whale Run and Walk set for March 21

The 36th Annual Whale Run and Walk starts and finishes at the Noyo Headlands Park on Fort Bragg’s South Coastal Trail on Saturday, March 21.

Noyo Headlands Park is accessed from Cypress Street and Highway 1. Register to run by March 7 to ensure a t-shirt.

Medals will be awarded three deep in all age divisions. The race is sponsored by Soroptimis­t Internatio­nal of Fort Bragg who work to improve the lives of women and girls in our communitie­s. Last year 757 runners/ walkers participat­ed.

The Skunk Train is offering free rides from the Fort Bragg Station on March 21 and 22 for anyone who presents a Whale Run bib.

This year the Whale Run Raffle features two $50 gift certificat­es to Silver’s at the Wharf, dinner and a one night stay at the Little River Inn, one night’s stay for two at the North Cliff Hotel, Giants tickets and more.

Tickets can be purchased in advance and are also available on race registrati­on day and at the race site.

“This year’s NEW course on the Noyo Headlands Coastal Trail provides ocean views the entire course for both the runners and walkers. Starting on the Noyo Headlands, runners pass Soldier Point to the Coastal Trail where the 5Kers will turn around.

The 10K runners dash by Glass Beach to cross the beautiful Pudding Creek Trestle to the 10K turn around.
