• Despite the inclemency of the weather, the ball given by the Farmers and Apple Growers Association last Saturday night was well-attended, and was in all respects a most enjoyable affair. The heavy rainfall of Saturday afternoon and evening put the roads in very bad shape and as a consequence many out-of-town people who had bought tickets and fully intended to be present, were forced to stay at home. Dancing continued until four o’clock but the ball remained open until after five, for the accommodation of those of the out of town visitors who did not wish to start home before daylight.
