Senior Center providing Thanksgiving Dinner
The Ukiah Senior Center is looking forward to preparing 250 meals for seniors and their families on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26. In the past, this annual event was held in our dining room, Bartlett Hall, located at 495 Leslie St., but due to COVID restrictions, we are offering pick up and delivery.
As of Wednesday, we have sold more than 150 tickets, which go for $8/ members, $10/non-members. This full Thanksgiving meal will include turkey, side dishes and a dessert. We are very grateful for our donors: Friedman’s Home Improvement, Savings Bank, and South Ukiah Rotary.
Tickets are available for purchase through Nov. 20 at the Ukiah Senior Center administrative offices, 499 Leslie St., Ukiah, as well as our community partners Mendocino Book Company, 102 S. School St. and Creative Workshop at 759 S. State St.
This year, we are thrilled to also be partnering with the local Ukiah Soccer Club to deliver meals, creating a great vision of “Seniors Serving Seniors.” At least 12 volunteers from the soccer club will be helping to take the meals to seniors who are unable to leave their home or prefer to shelter in place due to the pandemic.
In moments like these, we see how vital it is to continue providing services during difficult times. Ensuring seniors and people with disabilities have a wholesome, well thought out meal on Thanksgiving is only possible because of our partners, volunteers and staff.
Finally, we are excited to be planning in partnership with Veterans of Foreign Wars a holiday meal on Dec. 19 for seniors and veterans. For more information, call Val Parker at 468-9256.
