A Mendocino County Boogie Woogie Holiday
T he Redwood Valley Grange is presenting a Boogie Woogie Holiday featuring the Queen of Boogie Woogie, Wendy Dewitt, with her partner drummer Kirk Harwood, and the accompaniment of premier bassist Pierre Archain. At this time of year, you may be hearing many Christmas and holiday tunes, but at ‘Live from the Grange’ you will be hearing many of your favorites with a boogie woogie/blues treatment in this performance recorded live in performance at the Redwood Valley Grange.
Instead of touring in Europe as scheduled, Wendy and Kirk will be bringing their bounce to the stage locally with the addition of the inspiring complement of Pierre.
Covering classics from Silent Night to a 5/4 boogie version of We Wish You a Merry Christmas, the show will feature songs from their album, Train Full of Joy.
Produced as a means to support the Redwood Valley Grange with its community programs, donations will be accepted online or by mail: PO Box 465, Redwood Valley, CA, 95470. For those who donate a minimum of $25 and with your address, you will receive the CD as an appreciation for supporting the Redwood Valley Grange.
Due to the pandemic, there has been no rental income from the Grange hall for the usual weddings, birthdays and other events. The need to raise funds is not only for the insurance, utilities, and overhead, but to share resources with the community to live-stream, host via Zoom, and to safely produce creative events.
Becoming a community hub for online activities, this is the third Live From the Grange event. As with the past ‘ Live’ events, the Boogie Woogie Holiday will be networking with Grange supporters, friends, and family across the country to enrich the season.
Mark your calendars: Wednesday, Dec. 23, 5:30 p.m.; it is best to join 15 minutes early. Relax, perhaps with your favorite beverage, and be ready for some toe-tapping with this joyous Boogie Woogie Holiday.
