Ukiah Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan update planned
Walk & Bike Mendocino, a program of North Coast Opportunities, and the City of Ukiah are updating the Ukiah Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. Community members are welcome to share their input.
The Ukiah Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan helps guide the development of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, including the location of bike routes and lanes, crosswalks and closure of sidewalk gaps. Ultimately the plan envisions a network of bike and pedestrian infrastructure that provides easy access to all parts of Ukiah. The plan was last revised in August 2015 and since then several of its highest priority projects have been completed and new priorities have emerged.
A critical element of this needed update will include identifying key stakeholders, forming an advisory group and gathering public input. The group will help prioritize new projects and strategies that will build on Ukiah’s existing bike and pedestrian infrastructure. The advisory group will also help to identify some of the challenges and barriers pedestrians and cyclists face in the City of Ukiah.
The newly formed advisory group will plan to meet starting in January 2021. Group members will participate in an introductory Zoom session and will then be encouraged to join in on a citywide bike tour to review existing infrastructure and possible needs.
Walk and Bike Mendocino and the City of Ukiah are hoping to complete the update of Ukiah Bike and Pedestrian Plan by the Spring of 2021.
