A homeless man robbed of his wheelchair and clothes was left naked outside Walmart earlier this week, the Ukiah Police Department reported.

According to the UPD, officers responded to Walmart on Airport Park Boulevard around 9:50 p.m. Feb. 23 when it was reported that a naked man was refusing to leave the property.

When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old man who reported that his wheelchair, which he uses because of a leg injury, had been stolen by two men and two women. The victim said that two of the suspects pulled him from his wheelchair while the other two remained at a vehicle, preparing to flee.

He said that his clothing was pulled off during the struggle over the wheelchair, which the suspects loaded onto their vehi

cle before driving off. During their investigation, the officers learned that all involved parties are homeless residents of Ukiah, and that the four suspects had “conspired to take the

wheelchair from the victim for use by one of the group members.”

Using video surveillance and witness descriptions, officers identified all four suspects and arrested three of them: Charles Hawkins, 58, Sergio Gonzalez, 44, and Jennifer Cram, 37, who were charged with robbery and conspiracy. The fourth suspect had not been arrested as of Thursday morning, and their name was not released.

The victim received treatment at Adventist Health Ukiah Valley, and clothing was reportedly provided to him by Building Bridges Community Center. The UPD also reports that his wheelchair was found and returned to him.
