Community Theatre presents online streaming
2017 ‘Speakeasy IV — An Evening of Original Monologues’
In its latest release of recorded popular local productions, Willits Community Theatre presents for online streaming the 2017 “Speakeasy IV — An Evening of Original Monologues” and the 2016 compilation of short plays, “To Couple or Not To Couple.” The two original WCT productions are now available for free viewing through its website: ww.wct performingartscenter.org.
The ever popular Speakeasy series showcases local writers performing their original short monologues. The stories range from the dangerous experience to courageous determination, and always bold truth-telling. Jane Camp offers up the hilarious account of working for the London Zoo and being given an African python.
Peter Smith testifies to a bucket list trip to Nepal he took with his aging father. Divora Stern returns to when she was 16 and escaping from Cleveland in a series of untrustworthy used cars.
Steve Hellman recalls how his troubled, crazy sweet brother became a counselor to the homeless.
Bruce Andich ruins Jim Carrey’s acting career at movie set in Mendocino County. Emma Jean Good wants you to have a piece of her mind, if you don’t mind, and Peter Winslow looks back through the eyes of a child at the inconsistencies in adult thinking. Also appearing in this mesmerizing show are Mary Burns, Maria Gilardin, Don Samson, and Jed Diamond.
“To Couple or Not To Couple” features four one-act plays by local playwrights Don Samson and Damian Sebouhian. Samson offers up his usual sharplyhoned humor about marital conundrums in “Leftovers” where husband and wife Tony and Marie hook up with their friends Edna and Jim to divulge a shocking admission about their marriage.
“Foreverville” reveals an intimate afternoon with Meredith and Harold hilariously arguing over whether they should just move to Mexico to bring some spice to their marriage. Actor, director and playwright Sebouhian presents the totally unexpected in “Resurrecting Snowflake” where two women with an uncontrollable dog having its way with the neighbor’s pet rabbit have to face a surprising conclusion.
“Not Now Cupid” is about all a gay cupid can do, so distraught over his failed love affair that he tries borrowing a gun from two picnicking lesbians. It’s all live theatre in its original form, taped and presented for your in-home enjoyment.
