Annual fundraiser Pet Photos with Santa benefits SNAP

- Submitted

As the pandemic drags on, SNAP decided to make some changes while still holding their Pet Photos with Santa yearly fundraiser.

To prevent a crowd in the store at Rainbow Ag and keep Santa safe, SNAP set up the photo backdrop outside the front of the store. Santa wasn’t there but the backdrop is set up and will be there through Dec. 12.

Photo enthusiasts can bring their pets, families, and their own camera and use the backdrop for photos any time the store is open during that 10 day period.

There is a SNAP donation box inside the store for those who would like to donate to the cause. Anyone can use it as often and as long as they want.

On the first weekend that SNAP had the backdrop available, volunteers set up outside the store to help raise awareness about Spay and Neuter and to raise funds with tote bags and magnets. SNAP has two loyal supporters who showed up dressed as Santa, an Elf with their dog. They also invited their friends and matched their donations to SNAP.

SNAP volunteers were also spreading the word about the Round-up at the Register Program at the Ukiah Natural Foods COOP, which gives shoppers the opportunity to donate to a local non-profit organization each month.

SNAP was awarded the month of December, so Coop shoppers can round up their grocery bill to benefit SNAP!

The vision of the Mendocino Spay-neuter Assistance Program’s goal is to reduce animal suffering by eliminating over-population and by promoting humane treatment of animals.

SNAP is staffed solely by volunteers and 97 percent of all money raised goes to direct animal care. The other 3 percent is for mailing and fund raising expenses. Thier mission is to increase spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs in Inland Mendocino County by providing direct financial assistance to people caring for animals and need help with the cost. www.ukiahsnap.org or Follow on FB w w w.facebook.com/mendosnap.
