POLICE REPORTS The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymousl­y report crime informatio­n, call 707463-6205.

MAILBOXES BEING OPENED:

Caller in the 600 block of Talmage Road reported at 1:42p.m. May 1 that two people were opening mailboxes there, and that “all the mailboxes” in the area had been opened by them. An officer responded but the people were gone.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:

An officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of South Orchard Avenue at 12:21p.m. May 2for a report of a fight and arrested Christophe­r A. Lopez, 32, of Ukiah, on suspicion of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail.

MAN WITH MACHETE:

Caller in the 900 block of South State Street reported at 12:47p.m. May 2 that a man was “swinging a machete around.” An officer responded but the person was gone. At 1:08 p.m., an officer responded to Ukiah Natural Foods on South State Street when a caller reported that someone there was “swinging a machete around,” and a few minutes later another officer responded to Ukiah Cinema Six, contacted the person with the machete and took a report.

VANDALISM: Caller at the Ukiah Skate Park reported at 6:35 a.m. May 3 that there was graffiti in the bathrooms and fencing had been torn down. An officer responded and took a report.

WOMAN IN BUSHES: Caller at the Willow Terrace apartment complex on East Gobbi Street reported at 3:54p.m. May 3 that a woman was in the bushes and requested a welfare check. An officer responded and reported that the woman was fine, “taking a nap.”

DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle at the corner of South State and Observator­y Avenue at 9:45p.m. May 3and arrested Jose G. Garcia-leon, 54, of Stockton, on suspicion of driving under the influence, evading a peace officer and violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.

POOL OVERFLOWIN­G:

Caller at Todd Grove Park reported at 6:12p.m. May 4that the city pool was overflowin­g. Community Services employees were contacted.

SUSPICIOUS REDWOOD PLANTERS:

Caller in the 600 block of Leslie Street reported at 7:51p.m. May 4 that a neighbor had “several redwood planters outside.” The informatio­n was taken. DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle on Village Circle at 1:43a.m. May 5and arrested Lynn Cruz, 33, of Lakeport, on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was lodged at county jail.

DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of North State Street at 2:32 a.m. May 5and arrested Stephanie Lane, 42, of Ukiah, on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was cited and released. Those arrested by law enforcemen­t officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the informatio­n is in error should contact the appropriat­e agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcemen­t agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
