Find other options

To the Editor:

This maynot be of popular opinion, but I find it interesting that the same former speaker of the house and current president are pushing for more electric more planet friendly products and petroleum reduction use which is possible with gradual change that considers peoples choices and some compromise.

Education and a respect for people to change helps promote climate healing. Yet…these same leaders are supporting a war against Russia with tank and arms commitments and keeping the Ukrainian/russian war alive? But in my opinion is it not substainable. Because the only way to win the option of war is to commit fully & fight against Russia which is basically starting World War III.

Nuclear weapons have been & will be our biggest threat to the planet. How is promoting more war earth friendly? Radiation kills food growth kills human and animal life in a way that nature cannot even do. A radiation mankind had developed because of a previous war. Yet why is Biden being so flippant as to even dabble with the idea of fighting for Ukraine in a unwinnable war against Russia as we speak.

We have been told on the news Putin is unreachable and not open to peace. Is reaching him a mountain that must be climbed? Always look for alternatives. Is it possible he can also relate to preserving the planet and less loss of life? Ukraine deserves independence…. but at what cost to either country is this acceptable? The cost of the entire planet and our entire civilization being lost is not an option.

So these leaders are like playing with fire. This is the truth that no one seems to accept. Anymore radiation fall out will destroy what's left of our beautiful earth's ecosystem. A peaceful agenda is what this democratic party claim to be capable of. I'd like to see more of that. I'd like to see Ukraine safe and independent too. And I don't want another sort of Vietnam to ever happen again. We cannot go forward by subversively supplying war equipment and yet claiming the U.S. wants peace can we?

War happens all over the world and it's not within our control. But some things we can control. Our responses. These are Ukrainians lives our president is perpetually risking. So if this current presidency is really for climate healing and healing peace let's see some alternative solutions instead of being war mongers. Let's see less ego from leaders and more imaginative and creative thinkers. While we eat and work in peace Ukraine's people are suffering hungry and cold. How long how many years will the U.S. keep supporting only a tiny bit? Please help Ukraine but by different tactics. We have to believe peace without more war is possible in this situation. Because it's the only option we have. The entire human and animal population of Earth also needs the U.S. focusing on the best option. Being human beings first intelligent and flexible with respect for all of mankinds future is the only plan we can control.
