Darell Keith Shattuck

was a man of adventure from sunrise until sunset. His sunrise was August 21, 1947 and his sunset was January 23, 2023 surrounded by love and peace. He was the second son, to William and Muriel Shattuck in a family of 4 children (Billy, Darell, Michele and Wally). Living in Eureka, California where he was born until, 1951 when his family moved to Fort Bragg, California. July 4, 1952 was a day of celebratio­n as his parents would purchase the top of Noyo Hill and build their family home, where many of the Shattuck family live today. Darell graduated from Fort Bragg High School in 1965. His nickname was “Perry Pipeline” holding many running event records for the track and cross-country team at Fort Bragg High School. He still holds the fastest competing time running bald hill course. Soon after high school he would meet the love of his life, Alicia Marcine Davis and marry March 12, 1967, and build a family with three children (Darell, Richard, and Shawnee). Darell loved to travel the world spending winters in British Colombia, Canada and Park City, Utah skiing to his heart’s content. Then traveling to Mexico, Belize, Arizona, and New Mexico during the summer to mine for turquoise and other stones. Darell was a fisherman on the family boat the Stephanie and a woodworker building most all the burl benches in the town of Mendocino. Darell attended Church of the Redwoods in Comptche. His best friends all his life were his brothers and sister. He attended every football, basketball, baseball, and track meet his grandsons participat­ed in at Ukiah High School. His life was full and at peace when his sunset. Darell was proceeded in death by his brother, William Henry Shattuck Jr, his mother, Muriel Beryl Shattuck, his father, William Henry Shattuck, and his son, Darell Keith Shattuck II. Darell is survived by his brother Wally Shattuck and his sister Michele Shattuck, his children Richard (Sonja) Shattuck, Shawnee (Derek) Laiwa-mckay, his grandchild­ren Brandom O’bryant, Darell Shattuck III, Dakota Laiwamckay, Kalathan Laiwa-mckay, Ocean Shattuck, and Forrest Shattuck. Nephews Wally (Rachel) Shattuck Jr, Eddie Shattuck Great nephews, Isaiah Shattuck, Elias Shattuck, Wally Shattuck III, Adam Shattuck, Maverick Wall, Van Hale, Waylon Holberg, Nathan Hankins, Alex Hurtado, Ryler Hurtado, and Andrew Hurtado. Nieces Stephanie Shattuck, Amy (William) Hankins, Chantarell­e (Junior) Hurtado, Jillian (John) Holberg, Jenny Shattuck, Amelia (Chris) Wall, and Muriel Shattuck. Great nieces, Nova Wall, Adeline Shattuck, and Lucy Hankins. Great-great Nieces, Harper Hurtado, Hunter Hurtado, and Devynn Hurtado Shattuck family celebrated Darell’s life all together February 5th on the top of Noyo Hill.
