The family of Aldene Miller is saddened to announce Aldene’s passing on January 22, 2023. She died peacefully in Ukiah, California, just one month shy of her 100 th birthday. Aldene was born to Carl and Ruby Anderson in Greeley, Colorado on February 27, 1923. After high school Aldene moved from Colorado to Los Angeles to study nursing. While in nursing school she met a handsome, young medical student and fell in love. His name was Glenn. They were married in December of 1944 and were blessed to be married for 70 years. In 1947 the young couple moved from Southern California to Ukiah to raise their family and begin their careers.

Caring for others was important to Aldene. She was a nurse, mother, and a friend to many. Upon retirement she served as a volunteer for many years at Ukiah Valley Adventist Health, working in the emergency room.

Aldene was a loving wife and mother, a tremendous role model to her children. She was kind and considerate, person who was guided by her faith. She was an active member of the Ukiah Seventh Day Adventist Church and a student of the Bible. She loved spending time with her family. She was a terrific tennis player, and she won many matches at Deerwood Swim and Tennis Club over the years. She was an avid reader and a very tough opponent in Scrabble. Spending time in her garden and growing things one of her greatest joys. Music was a passion. At the age of 7 Aldene received a violin from her parents, and she became an accomplished violinist playing in the Ukiah Symphony Orchestra until the age of 80.

She was also a gifted singer and sang in the church choir for decades. Taking walks to enjoy nature and to watch for Bluebirds was also one of her favorite delights. She enjoyed watching baseball and was a

San Francisco Giants fan.

She was predeceased by her husband Glenn Miller MD of 70 years. She is survived by sons Steve Miller (daughter-in-law Rebecca Miller) of Ukiah, Fred Miller of Angwin, her daughter Marilyn (Muffie) Etchell, and son-in-law Philip Etchell of Healdsburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

Words cannot adequately convey our thanks to her caregivers at Dalistan Care Home. Their kindness, compassion, and finest care is so appreciated.

What would make Aldene smile and feel honored is a donation in her name to the Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Nursing Education Fund.
