Gallery presents Valentine making workshop

Medium Art Gallery in Ukiah invites the community to participat­e in a fun, creative day making handmade Valentines, from 1 to 5 p.m. today, at their location in the Pear Tree Center, 522 E. Perkins St.

Supplies will be provided, the event is open to all ages, and donations are welcome but not required.

“This is our second year offering our community a way to make sweet, personaliz­ed paper Valentines with markers, crayons, and watercolor­s,” participan­ts stated in a press release. “Kids, adults, and all are welcome. This fun event will be an opportunit­y for community members to slow down, think creatively and feel inspired.”

Medium Art Gallery is a project of Deep Valley Arts Collective, a 501.C-3 nonprofit art organizati­on dedicated to nurturing artists and creative community expression in Mendocino County.

Over the past two years, Deep Valley Arts Collective and Medium Art Gallery have presented more than a dozen art shows and participat­ed in more than a year of First Fridays in downtown Ukiah. Art from more than 500 disparate artists has been displayed in a variety of shows. The gallery is a community endeavor and collective space run by volunteers and does not require submission fees or payments from artists.

“Our current show, `Storytelli­ng,' is on display through Feb 19. Our next show, featuring Youth Art, will begin on March 3. Submission­s for the Youth show are due Sunday, Feb 12.
